We work and play hard.

January 2007 - Mole Class thought about turning over a new leaf - and were also invaded by the Vikings.

April 2007 - we begin to have sailing lessons at a nearby reservoir.

May 2007 - staff from the Terminal 5 project replace three old P.E. storage sheds with one large new shed.

October 2007 - we had a Book Week.


We did paired and silent reading.
We designed book jackets and made books.
We went to Ashford library and borrowed books.
We made posters encouraging people to go to the library.
We dressed up as book characters.

                   

We watched the staff perform 'Mrs Wobble the Waitress'.
We worked with Francis Firebrace – an Aboriginal artist and story-teller.




November 2007 - we had an RE Day, led by Simon Shutt, from 'Faith Awareness in Children Trust'. The children did various activities - e.g. singing, dancing, listening, writing, drawing, play-writing, plasticine-modelling - based on the Bible story about Gideon. We have these days about once each term.

April 2008 - drawing 3D chalk pictures on the ground, in the style of Julian Beever.

June 2008 - If a whole class is doing the right thing at the same time the children earn marbles. The marbles add up to a marble-in-the-jar treat.

June 2008 - Paper structure challenges.
1) Make the tallest structure that will stand by itself, using paper, sellotape and masking tape. The tallest structure reached the ceiling!

2) Make a bridge out of paper, strong enough to hold a dictionary. The strongest paper bridge held 23 dictionaries!

March 2009 - We held a Bring and Buy Sale as part of Blue Peter's appeal for the people in Zimbabwe.
Every class ran a stall, pricing and selling and buying the goods. We also sold refreshments in the hall.
We raised £72.00. We had a thought-provoking Assembly about how the money will be used.

July 2009 - We had a fun afternoon and invited our families and friends.
We began by playing the drums with Tony Kofi. Later, we listened to him playing the saxophone.

We sold refreshments, plants and bric a brac - and raised over £55 for the Surrey Air Ambulance.
We ended by having some small team games organised by Sport Focus.

July 2009 - ZooLab brought in some animals to show us: millipede, Giant African Land Snail, rat and rabbit.

We were allowed to touch them.
We also saw a: tree frog, coral snake, cockroach and tarantula.


July 2009 - We had a Circus Day, run by Splats. We learned about: juggling scarves and balls, balancing peacock feathers, spinning plates, and using diabolos, Chinese ribbons, poi and devil sticks.

July 2009 - The Mayoress of Spelthorne presented two very proud pupils from Fordway with a gold certificate in the Litter Free Schools Competition, at the Council Offices.

October 2009 - We dressed in pink on Pink Friday and also did various pink activities including buying pink cakes. We raised over £100 for cancer charities.

October 2009 - We went to Henley Fort in Guildford for a day trip. We did lots of activities about World War Two. We worked together to use a hose and stirrup pump to put out a fire. We filled sandbags and made a roadblock. We camouflaged ourselves.
We also learned about air raid shelters, gasmasks, rationing, ARP and the Home Guard.
The soldier who helped us was very impressed with our behaviour.

November 2009 - Francis Firebrace, an Aborigine, spent the day with us. He told us stories about the Aborigine people and showed us how to do Aboriginal paintings.

December 2009 - The Mayoress of Spelthorne helps us to draw tickets in the raffle after our Talent Show.
